Facebook blocked the account of the influential vaccine group in the US

On August 18, Meta, the company that owns Facebook, removed from the social networking site one of the most influential anti-vaccine groups in the US for spreading misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meta spokesman Aaron Simpson said he had suspended the Accounts of the Children’s Health Defense (CHD) group on Facebook and Instagram.

Meta made this decision after CHD repeatedly violated the company’s regulations on misinformation and fake news.

CHD is one of the groups currently critical of covid-19 vaccines.

In a statement, the group also shared screenshots announcing the group’s accounts were suspended for violating Meta’s policies related to misinformation and fake news.

CHD representatives expressed surprise at Meta’s move and confirmed that the group’s accounts on social networks receive hundreds of thousands of followers.

The CHD group suggested that the ban could be related to the fact that the group filed a lawsuit against Meta regarding control of posts.
