The sunspot is rapidly increasing in size and is heading straight towards the Earth

Astronomers are still observing and trying to make accurate predictions about the timing and possible impact of solar activity.

The sunspot is not currently dangerous to Earth, but scientists predict that if its size continues to increase, it could cause a solar storm in the near future.

Astronomers have recorded several explosions around the AR3085 blackspot since its discovery, but they have only been identified at level C.

This is the weakest of the “3 weak levels” A-, B-, C defined by astronomers to measure explosions of electromagnetic radiation that shoot out of the sun’s surface and eject into space.

Explosive levels A-, B- are all weak. In particular, level C is likened to “flares with crackling explosions”, completely too weak to cause an impact on the Earth.
