The Israeli armor ROBUST fights infantry and tanks autonomously

Israeli arms giant Elbit Systems recently unveiled the ROBUST medium armored vehicle | It is designed for advanced autonomous combat against both infantry and armored vehicles | The new armoured vehicle should operate with a high degree of autonomy, in all weather conditions and virtually in any terrain

The trend in the development of armored vehicles nowadays are autonomous combat vehicles. Israeli arms giant Elbit Systems recently unveiled the ROBUST medium armored vehicle for advanced autonomous infantry and armored vehicles, which was now seen by visitors to the Eurosatory International Ground Weapons Technology Fair in Paris.

ROBUST is packed with modern systems. The basis is the BLR-2 robotic platform, which is equipped with an autonomous combat turret with a 30 mm cannon, originally developed for the new Israeli armored vehicle Eitan AFV.

ROBUST also has an “Iron Fist” active protection system developed by Elbit Systems, as well as advanced fire control and mission management systems, plus a “robotic” kit for autonomous vehicle control and a passive detection kit from Elbit Systems and Foresight.

As is currently customary, ROBUST carries a drone (or drones) that can be sent for reconnaissance, along with a system for its launch and pick-up.

Created by Israel’s Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR&D) and Tank & APC Directorate, the ROBUST technology demonstrator has advanced maneuverability and can carry a variety of cargo.
