PSG broke the winning circuit in Ligue I

It was PSG’s first winless game this season, after beating Nantes 4-0 in the French Super Cup, Clermont Foot 5-0, Montpellier 5-2 and Lille 7-1 in Ligue 1.

Currently, they still lead Ligue 1 with 10 points but only more than goal difference compared to Marseille and Lens.

Monaco are 12th with five points.

Matchday squad

PSG: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos (Nordi Mukiele, 87′), Presnel Kimpembe, Achraf Hakimi, Renato Sanches (Danilo Pereira, 63′), Marco Verratti, Nuno Mendes, Lionel Messi (Pablo Sarabia, 87′), Neymar, Kylian Mbappe

Monaco: Alexander Nubel, Caio Henrique, Guillermo Maripan, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Ruben Aguilar, Mohamed Camara (Jean Lucas, 74′), Aleksandr Golovin (Breel Embolo, 64′), Youssouf Fofana, Wissam Ben Yedder, Kevin Volland (Maghnes Akliouche, 25′, Takumi Minamino, 64′)

The defending Ligue 1 champions drew 1-1 thanks to Neymar’s penalty, against Monaco in the 4th round on August 28.

Since Monaco’s return to Ligue I in 2013-2014, PSG have won just seven, while drawing seven and losing five, in 19 encounters.

This is the worst indicator against opponents they have faced at least 10 times in the league.

In their last five meetings, PSG have won just one, drawn one and lost three to Monaco – including a 3-0 defeat last season.

Yesterday, the Parc des Princes owner once again broke out in sweat.

Despite controlling the ball 67%, launching 18 shots and five of them on target, they scored only thanks to Neymar’s penalty.

In the opposite direction, Monaco proved effective, with three shots on target in just four shots.

They even went ahead from the counterattack in the 20th minute.

After Mohamed Camara intercepted Kylian Mbappe’s pass, Aleksandr Golovin poked the slot for Kevin Volland to escape.
