Warning signs of blood cancer, you must not ignore

Besides understanding the symptoms of blood cancer, treatments are also a top concern for patients and families.

Depending on the type of blood cancer that the patient has, each person will have a different treatment regimen.

In addition, this should also depend on a number of other factors such as the extent and stage of the disease, age, and the patient’s health status.

There are 3 treatments for blood cancer that are being applied in the majority of cases in recent times:

Stem cell transplantation: Stem cells will be infused into the body to help regenerate healthy blood cells.

Stem cells can be obtained from cord blood, circulating blood or bone marrow.

Radiation therapy: it is often recommended to treat blood cancer by taking advantage of the radiation energy from X-rays, which kill cancer cells, while shrinking the size of the tumor.

Radiation can affect cancer cells in the brain and spinal fluid, limiting bone pain and in some cases radiation therapy before a stem cell transplant.

Chemotherapy: is the use of a combination of chemicals with anticancer abilities to prevent the growth of blood cancer cells.

Similar to radiation therapy, chemotherapy can also be applied before stem cell transplantation.
