Ukrainian officials said on Aug. 9 that Moscow would shut down the plant from its national grid to divert power to Crimea.
Energoatom has not commented on whether the power has been diverted.
Zelensky said Ukraine had avoided the disaster thanks to an emergency power generation system at the nuclear plant that Russia controls.
Ukraine’s state nuclear company Energoatom said on Aug. 25 that a fire at the ash pits of a thermal power plant near the Zaporizhzhia plant had disconnected the reactors from the grid.
The Ukrainian government accused Russian military shelling of the fire, while pro-Russian local official Yevgeny Balitsky claimed the fire was caused by Ukrainian troops.
