Samsung’s latest folding phone model officially “on shelves” in 40 countries
According to market research firm, Samsung shipped 60 million smartphones in Q2 2022, leading the global smartphone market with a 21% market share.
That’s down 19% from the previous quarter but up slightly from 58 million units a year ago.
Global smartphone exports fell 9% year-on-year in the three months ending in June 2022, as consumer disposable income was cut due to soaring inflation.
In South Korea, Samsung recorded 970,000 pre-orders in the seven days ended Aug. 22, the highest for a folding phone model and up about 5.4 percent from the previous record.
South Korean multinational Samsung Electronics Co. on Aug. 26 launched its latest foldable smartphones in about 40 countries, hoping the new products could boost dismal global sales amid high inflation.
