Preah Sihanouk provincial authorities also announced Monday a campaign to investigate and crack down on crimes related to human trafficking and forced labor.

Cambodian police arrested several suspects and seized military firearms and ammunition during an operation to rescue a foreign woman who was a trafficking victim.

General Khieu Sopheak, spokesman for Cambodia’s Interior Ministry, announced Monday that police have arrested 11 suspects as part of a crackdown on human trafficking offenders in Sihanoukville, which has been dubbed the “cambodian casino capital.”

Police discovered and confiscated a “stockpile of firearms” in the trafficking ring, including AK, submachine guns, shotguns, at least 4 handguns, and multiple cartridges containing a total of 265 rounds.
