Super yacht nearly 8 million USD sinks off the coast

Rory Jackson, head of superyachts at VesselsValue, said such accidents are rare in yachting circles.

Rory Jackson, head of superyachts at VesselsValue, said such accidents are rare in yachting circles.

“If the level of safety is highest and the procedures are followed properly, it will rarely happen.

It now takes a period of investigation to determine exactly what caused the crash.

We are all grateful that the crew was rescued and no one was injured,” Jackson said.

The $7.8 million 39.4 million superyacht capsized and plunged into the Ionian Sea on Aug. 21.

The Italian Coast Guard on the evening of August 20 received a call for help from the crew of the superyacht My Saga.

The crew said the yacht’s tail was overflowed by water while sailing across Squillace Bay.

The Italian Coast Guard dispatched a ship to approach the yacht, 9 nautical miles off the coast, to rescue four passengers and a member of the crew.

On the morning of August 21, rescuers brought a tugboat to tow the My Saga yacht and picked up the captain and the other three crew members to shore.
