Halilhodzic: 'Messi helps Mbappe more than thinking about the Ballon d'Or'

“Messi is a football teacher. In this position, he thinks about helping Neymar and Mbappé, rather than scoring goals and thinking about the Ballon d’Or.

This is what I saw in the last game,” Halilhodzic said.

According to the coach who won the French Cup with PSG in 2003-2004, Messi held the ball less than when he was with Barca. In return, the Argentine striker played smarter and assisted better.

“Neymar plays higher and requires balls with depth, which Messi can provide from behind,” Halilhodzic explained.

In the evening match on August 21, PSG won 7-1 at Lille. In it, Messi contributed a goal and an assist.

It was this assist that helped Mbappe score in the eighth second and set the record for the fastest goal in Ligue 1 history.

In four games since the start of the season, Messi has four goals and two assists.

Neymar contributed seven goals and six assists, while Mbappe contributed four.

The high form of the striker trio helped PSG beat Nantes 4-0, Clermont Foot 5-0, Montpellier 5-2 and Lille 7-1.

“PSG are the best team in the world. They need to be brought together in a common project so that people put their egos aside, maintain that level and collective spirit,” Halilhodzic stressed.
