According to Nick Kyrgios, junior Carlos Alcaraz is the number one candidate to win the last Grand Slam of the year in New York, starting 8/29.

The U.S. Open is likely to be without Novak Djokovic, who does not have a vaccine passport to enter the country.

According to European bookmakers, Medvedev is the top title contender if Djokovic does not attend.

Alcaraz, Nadal and Kyrgios are in the next three spots, ahead of Tsitsipas, Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz.

Kyrgios on August 22 retweeted Instagram in which he selected Carlos Alcaraz as this year’s US Open champion.

Besides Alcaraz, the other candidates suggested are Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

But of these, Zverev announced his withdrawal because he did not recover from his injury in time.

Alcaraz is the number three seed in the US Open, behind Nadal and Medvedev.
