Ukraine restores railway with Moldova after 23 years of hiatus

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Ukraine had restored a 22km railway running from Berezyne in western Ukraine to Basarabeasca in Moldova after a 23-year hiatus.
On August 22, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Ukraine had restored a railway with neighboring Moldova after a 23-year hiatus and that the route could carry 10 million tons of cargo a year.
Although it did not specify what kind of goods Ukraine was keen to find new ways to export the millions of tonnes of grain that had been trapped.
Moldova borders Romania, a member of the European Union (EU).
