Why does NASA want to send people back to the Moon after 50 years?

It’s no coincidence that NASA named the return-to-moon program Artemis after apollo’s twin sister in Greek mythology.

The goals of the Artemis program include sending a multiethnic crew to the Moon and exploring the dark south pole for the first time.

The ambitious program also aims to establish sustainable settlements on the Moon and create reusable systems that allow humans to explore Mars on Aug. 23.

When Artemis I launches on Aug. 29, the unmanned mission will test every new component that makes future deep space exploration possible.

After that, the astronauts will make the journey in 2024 and 2025 during the Artemis II and Artemis III missions.

The Orion Space Launch System and Spacecraft rocket is expected to take off between 8:33 p.m. and 8:33 p.m. on Aug. 29 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The backup launch period falls on September 2 to September 5.
