The European Games in Munich conclude today (21/8).
For the big event of the nine European Championships held simultaneously in the same city, a total of 1,300 medals were built.
The Tokyo Olympic gold medalist explained to his friend and teammate Tihomir Ivanov, who also belongs to George Pomaski’s group and competes in height, what exactly happened to his medal and lost his beautiful golden face.
“I’m used to holding my medals in my hand,” he explained, meaning that rather friction caused this damage to the medal.
The medals awarded to the athletes who win the first place are usually made of gold-plated silver and not gold, because the cost would be unbearable for any event.
