How dangerous are the two Omicron sub-strains

Experts say monitoring of variants is critical. Countries need to investigate its development as soon as possible.

They also warn that the virus will have more complex genetic changes, appearing in subsequent metabolism.

BA.2.74 – newly entered Vietnam and BA.2.75 is genetically more complete, capable of evading immunity and attaching to cells more effectively than the old strain.

BA.2.74, BA.2.75 and BA.2.76 are a triad of second-generation sub-variants of BA.2 (Omicron), discovered in India.

According to experts, all three strains are more complete and contagious than BA.5.

They may be responsible for the continuous increase in the number of infections in India since mid-June.

In the first 10 days of July, India recorded about 298 cases of BA.2.76, 216 cases of BA.2.74 and 46 cases of BA.2.75.
