Obstetrician ‘blind’ abortion procedure
Abortion bans in some states leave many doctors without the opportunity to learn about the procedure, affecting pregnant women who unfortunately miscarry or become ill.
Medical student Ian Peake spent 4 years following, learning from doctors at an abortion clinic in Tulsa, as his school did not have courses or training in this area.
However, the Tulsa Women’s Clinic stopped accepting abortionists in May of this year, when Oklahoma enacted a near-total ban on the medical procedure.
The clinic also closed after the U.S. Supreme Court reversed a woman’s abortion rights rule.
The 33-year-old medical student, who is studying as a resident doctor outside of Oklahoma, now has no basis to learn about abortion.
