Xavi also praised Marc-Andre ter Stegen – the German goalkeeper made two saves in the face-off – and Lewandowski, although the striker played lackluster in his first official game for Barca.
“Today, Lewandowski and the whole team were not happy with the result. But it’s only a matter of time before Lewandowski scores,” Xavi said.
In the second round on Aug. 21, Lewandowski and his teammates will be Sociedad’s guests.
According to coach Xavi, the pressure from the summer market caused Barca to play under their strength when they drew Rayo Vallecano 0-0 on 13/8.
