The carcasses of nearly 600 penguins were discovered at several beaches in the capital of santa catarina state in southern Brazil; in addition to penguins, the carcasses of albatrosses and sea turtles were also found.

Brazilian scientists on August 13 said they had discovered the corpses of nearly 600 penguins on the beaches of the southern state of Santa Catarina after a tornado hit the area.

According to the Santos Basin Beach Monitoring Project (PMP), the birds were spotted at several beaches in the state capital.
