Liver function tests to assess the condition of the disease
Gamma-GDlutamyl Transferase (GGT) is an enzyme found throughout the body, but mainly in the liver.
GGT may be elevated in early-stage liver disease. Your GGT levels may be elevated with congestive heart failure.
It may also increase after heavy alcohol use. Normal levels are around 8-61 U/L.
You may need to fast and drink for 6-8 hours, some medications before a blood test.
According to medical experts, since liver function is checked with routine blood tests, there are very few risks and no contraindications.
You may also need to perform liver function tests at some point.
