Athlete Bol for the first time under 50 seconds at 400 meters
At the European Championships later this month in Munich, Bol will in principle be in action in both the 400 meters and the 400 meter hurdles, although she made a reservation after her record race in Chorzów.
“I don’t know yet if I’m going to run both parts, I still have to make a decision with my coach.”
With the relay team, Bol can also go for a medal at the European Championships in the 4×400 meters.
Athlete Femke Bol has run at the Diamond League in Poland as the first Dutch woman under 50 seconds in the 400 meters.
The 22-year-old from Amersfoort triumphed in the Slaski stadium in Chorzów in 49.75 seconds.
With that, the athlete took more than six tenths of a second off her personal record that she had run last year in Romania (50.37).
That time was also considered a Dutch record for a while, but Lieke Klaver went into hiding there last month at the World Championships in Eugene.
After 50.24 in the series, Klaver clocked 50.18 in the semifinals.
The 23-year-old Klaver grabbed in the final battle with 50.33 just next to the medals (fourth).
Bol focused on the 400-meter hurdles at the World Championships, the event in which she had taken Olympic bronze in Tokyo last year.
In Eugene followed a silver medal, behind the unapproachable American Sydney McLaughlin.
