The European Union has started negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia on joining the EU
On June 23, the EU summit agreed on the status of accession candidates for Ukraine and Moldova.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky compared the granting of the status of a candidate for EU membership to the country with the conquest of the summit of Everest.
He also urged not to devalue the significance of this event.
The European Union has begun negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia on joining the EU, said the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
“Today, Albania and North Macedonia are starting negotiations to join the EU. This historic moment is your success. The result of your hard work,” she wrote on Twitter.
Von der Leyen added that the EU has supported these countries in their aspirations and will continue to do so.
