Crazy Rich Asians : Constance Wu reveals the reason for her suicide attempt

A smear campaign on Twitter has pushed the star actress of the movie "Crazy Rich Asians" to the limit.

A smear campaign on Twitter has pushed the star actress of the movie “Crazy Rich Asians” to the limit.

In her controversial 2019 tweet, she had expressed her grief over the renewal of the hit show “Fresh Off the Boat” for a sixth season.

For the actress, this meant at the time to put her other projects on hold, which had “upset her so much” to the point of crying, in her own words on Twitter.

The backlash from this reaction has been virulent, with many netizens criticizing his lack of recognition for the sitcom’s success.

American actress Constance Wu, one of the stars of the movie “Crazy Rich Asians” (2018), tried to commit suicide three years ago, following comments about her on social networks, she said Thursday.

Ms Wu, 40, faced a torrent of criticism in 2019 for her remarks on Twitter – denigrated by users of the social network – about the sitcom “Fresh Off the Boat”, in which she starred.

“Scourge on the community”

Unable to cope with the humiliations and message of another Asian American actress calling her a “scourge on the Asian American community,” she had decided to end her life.

“I started to feel like I didn’t even deserve to live anymore. That I was a disgrace to the AsAms (AsianAmericans, Asian Americans, editor’s note), and that they would be better off without me,” Constance Wu wrote in a lengthy message on Twitter on Thursday.

“Fortunately, a friend found me and took me immediately to the emergency room,” the actress wrote without giving further details.
