He must participate in the World Cup: Premier League player arrested on rape charges
As the English championship resumes in a month, one of its stars has been arrested by the London police. The footballer is also an international who is due to take part in the World Cup this winter.
The Telegraph revealed on Monday night that a Premier League star had been arrested by London police in the north of the British capital.
Scotland Yard explains to the British newspaper that “on July 4, an accusation of rape of a woman in her twenties was reported to the police” and that the act would have taken place in June of this year.
London police also claim that a man was arrested “at an address in Barnet and taken into custody.”
World Cup in a few months
For legal reasons, the British daily cannot explicitly name the player but it specifies that he is in his late twenties and that he should participate in the World Cup in Qatar with his national team in November.
Contacted by the Telegraph, the player’s club is aware but does not wish to comment on the case.
