Wimbledon: Djokovic got into the quarterfinals and will face Sinner, executioner of Alcaraz

Novak Djokovic, six-time Wimbledon champion and third in the ATP rankings, remains at a steady pace in the London Grand Slam, where he got into the quarterfinals thanks to his victory over Tim van Rijthoven on Sunday.

The Serbian used two hours and 38 minutes to beat the world 104, a 25-year-old Dutchman who entered the main draw by invitation and had never won a match for big tournaments, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 and 6-2.

Djokovic will have Jannik Sinner as his next opponent.

The Italian, 13th in the ranking, truncated the dream of Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (7th), whom he beat 6-1, 6-4, 6-7 and 6-3 after three hours and 35 minutes.

The winner of that match between Djokovic and Sinner will play semifinals against David Goffin (58th) or Cameron Norrie (12th), who come from leaving American players by the wayside.

The Belgian beat Frances Tiafoe (28th) 7-5, 5-7, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 and the Briton beat Tommy Paul (32nd) 6-4, 7-5, 6-4.
