Police: The assailant who killed 3 in Copenhagen acted alone
The assailant who fired Sunday at a Copenhagen shopping mall likely acted alone and randomly selected his victims, Danish police said Monday.
Investigators do not believe the attack is terrorism-related, Copenhagen Police Chief Inspector Søren Thomassen said.
Three people were killed – two Danes and a Russian national – and two Danes and two Swedes are hospitalized with serious injuries, he added.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Sunday that the Scandinavian nation was hit by a “cruel attack.”
“It’s incomprehensible. Heartbreaking. Meaningless,” he said. “Our beautiful and usually quiet capital changed in a split second.”
