“A difficult decision”: Air Canada announces many flight cancellations this summer with claim of ‘Unacceptable’ delays
The announcement comes hours after Transport Minister Omar Alghabra denounced “unacceptable” delays at airports.
“We are currently working with our partners to implement additional solutions to this global situation,” he said on Twitter.
The European skies were also disrupted in recent days by strikes, with employees of several low-cost airlines saying they were under pressure in the face of the sudden resumption of air traffic.
In addition, the Canadian government announced on Wednesday that it was extending the suspension of random Covid testing at the country’s airports, in effect since June 11 to reduce waiting times faced by travelers in recent weeks.
These tests performed on randomly selected passengers upon arrival in Canada will be interrupted “at least until September 30,” the Public Health Agency of Canada announced, while they were scheduled to resume on July 1.
