"Let's not allow Scottish democracy to be in Johnson's prison." Edinburgh is holding another referendum on independence

“Let’s not allow Scottish democracy to be in Johnson’s prison.” Edinburgh is holding another referendum on independence

London rejects the claim, saying the Scots had already said in 2014 that they wanted to remain part of Britain, with a majority of 55 per cent of the vote.

Another Argument of Westminster is that the referendum eight years ago was called on the condition that it would be “one opportunity and one generation”.

“Once in a generation, I think it’s definitely not five years, but rather 25 years. Then we can consider (the referendum) again,” House of Commons leader Mark Spencer said in the middle of the month.

Prime Minister Johnson has not yet commented on Sturgeon’s speech on Tuesday. Before it began, he merely stated that he would “listen to what the Scottish Prime Minister has to say.”

Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon said on Tuesday at Edinburgh’s Holyrood Castle, the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland, that the Scottish Parliament would table a bill to vote on Scottish independence, scheduled for 19 October 2023.
