Petr Čech retired after three years as an advisor to Chelsea’s technical and sports department.

The forty-year-old Czech moved into the management of Chelsea, where he won the English title, the Champions League and the Europa League four times in eleven years, shortly after the end of his professional career with rival London outfit Arsenal.

“I feel that with the arrival of new owners, now is the right time for me to leave. I am glad that the club is in an excellent position. I am convinced that Chelsea will be successful on and off the pitch,” Cech told the Blues website.

Described by numerous players, pundits and managers as one of the greatest goalkeepers in history, he is argued, alongside Peter Schmeichel, to be the greatest goalkeeper in Premier League history.

Petr Čech is a Czech former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He also plays semi-professional ice hockey as a goaltender for Guildford Phoenix.
