Zidane reveals why he’s afraid to lead Man Utd
Zidane admits he is excited about the prospect of leading France, where he played 108 games at the height of winning the 1998 World Cup. According to Zidane, it was the best time of his career.
“I have experienced all the emotions of a player in the French shirt. Now I’m the coach and I want to lead the team in my head.
Can I succeed Didier Deschamps? I don’t know. If that’s the right thing to do, it will happen.
When I say I want to lead France, it’s a personal assumption,” he said. “At the moment, the French team has been shaped and has their goals.
But if there’s a chance in the future, I’m ready to be there. But again, it’s not just up to me, even though leading France might be the best thing.”
According to former Real coach Zinedine Zidane, the lack of English makes him not want to work in the fog country.
“People ask me, ‘Do you want to go to Manchester?’ I understand English but I’m not connoisseur. I know there are managers who manage a club that doesn’t speak the language there. But I work the other way.
To win, you need many factors. Football is now a global story. But I know what I need to succeed,” Zidane told French sports newspaper L’Equipe.
After leaving Real at the end of the 2020-2021 season, Zidane has not taken on a new job. He has been linked with many teams such as Man Utd, PSG or the French national team.
Recently, President Nasser Al-Khelaifiannounced that he has never negotiated with Zidane despite rumors that PSG are about to part ways with coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Zidane, on the other hand, has not ruled out the possibility of leading the Ligue 1 champions. The 50-year-old said:
“Never talk about what can’t happen. Especially when you’re a coach these days.
When I was a player, I could almost choose to play for any club. When I was a manager, I could only work for less than 50 clubs, including two or three suitable places.
I’ve always said that if I go back to coaching, my goal is to win trophies. So I can’t manage every club.”
