Ex-soldier shoots man in the head for refusing a cigarette

An ex-soldier shot Wednesday night near Toulouse a bullet in the head of a man who allegedly refused to give him a cigarette, before being arrested at his home by the GIGN, according to the Prosecutor’s Office of Toulouse.

The 45-year-old victim was hospitalized and was in critical condition Thursday morning. According to the prosecutor’s office and sources close to the investigation, the scene took place shortly after 20:00 on a bank of the Tarn, in Bessières, 30 km from Toulouse.

The gunman then took refuge in his house in the center of this village of 4,000 inhabitants.
