An ex-soldier shot Wednesday night near Toulouse a bullet in the head of a man who allegedly refused to give him a cigarette, before being arrested at his home by the GIGN, according to the Prosecutor’s Office of Toulouse.
The 45-year-old victim was hospitalized and was in critical condition Thursday morning. According to the prosecutor’s office and sources close to the investigation, the scene took place shortly after 20:00 on a bank of the Tarn, in Bessières, 30 km from Toulouse.
The gunman then took refuge in his house in the center of this village of 4,000 inhabitants.
Witnesses in a state of shock The shooter “was quickly located, a contact established a little before 04:00 in the morning and then he was arrested by the GIGN,” said to AFP the prosecutor of Toulouse, Samuel Vuelta-Simon.
According to La Dépêche, the 49-year-old man is known for his excessive alcohol consumption and escapades. He has already been in trouble with the law.
